BLADE Blade is a 1998 vampire movie adapted from a comic book. It stars Wesley Snipes (as Blade) and Kris Kristofferson (as Abraham Whistler). It was directed by Stephen Norrington. Snipes plays the character of Blade, a half-man, half-vampire who becomes the protector of humans against the vampires. It spawned a sequel, Blade II released in 2002. Another sequel, Blade: Trinity, was released in December 2004.
The movie features Traci Lords, the former pornographic actress, as Racquel, a vampire who is shown covered in blood in one notable scene.
The character Blade was created in 1973 for Marvel Comics by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan and was a supporting character in the 1970s comic Tomb of Dracula. In the comic, Blade's mother was bitten by vampire Deacon Frost while she was in labor with Blade. Thus Blade was born as a dhampir, a human with vampire genes.
In the comic Blade was a normal human for most purposes except that he wore shaded goggles, presumably to protect against bright light (a vampire weakness). He was also immune to the vampire's bite. Blade's initial mission was to avenge his mother's death, and in his quest he would fight many vampires including Dracula. Due to his mercurial temperament, Blade had a strained but steady relationship with Quincy Harker, Rachel Van Helsing, and Frank Drake: vampire hunters dedicated to destroying Dracula. Blade eventually encountered Hannibal King, a private detective who had been turned vampire by Deacon Frost. While Blade initially distrusted King, the two teamed up to destroy Frost, forging a lasting friendship between Blade and King.
In later comic series Blade, along with King and Drake, became a frequent ally of Doctor Strange and assisted in the casting of the Montesi formula which destroyed Dracula and (for a time) all vampires on Earth. Blade, King and Drake later formed a private detective agency called Borderline Inc (aka Nightstalkers). They battled various supernatural villains such as the Darkholders, Hydra's DOA, the Lilin, and Varnae.
In the films, Deacon Frost said that Blade "possesses all of the strengths of a vampire, but none of their weaknesses." While not entirely true, since he lusts for blood, he does have numerous abilities. Among these powers are enhanced strength, dexterity, and senses. He speaks Czech, Russian and to a degree the Vampire language, and has a great deal of knowledge about hunting vampires.

BLADE II Blade II is a 2002 vampire action movie starring Wesley Snipes and Kris Kristofferson. It was directed by Guillermo del Toro.
Blade (played by Snipes) must decide whether to join with the vampires, his sworn enemies, in order to combat an even more fearsome enemy: the Reapers, a strain of mutant vampires with insatiable bloodlust and the ability feed on both humans and vampires. The Reapers have a sickly appearence resembling that of Count Orlock from Nosferatu and leech-like jaws. The movie introduces new characters including a new sidekick (Scud) and a group of blade hunting vampires called the "bloodpack". Many people including critics have said that the sequel is superior to the original, a rare exception to the "inferior sequels" trend. The 2 disc DVD features a number of interesting features on the making of the film as well as some "easter eggs".

BLADE TRILOGY Blade: Trinity is a 2004 film, directed by David S. Goyer, which is a motion-picture directorial debut for him. It is the third film in the Blade trilogy, following on from Blade and Blade II, and it is based on the Marvel Comics character Blade. The title alludes to the trinity formed between Blade, Hannibal King, and Abigail Whistler in the movie.
It was originally intended that Guillermo del Toro would direct, who directed Blade II. He passed on the project however to work on Hellboy.
As an apocalyptic event takes place, one which might allow vampires to seize control of Earth, The Vampire Nation succeeds in framing Blade (Snipes) for several killings. Blade, now in the public's eye and persecuted from all sides, has to join forces with the Nightstalkers, a human clan of vampire hunters. Blade, Hannibal (Reynolds), and Abigail (Biel) go after Danica Talos (Posey), who seeks to and eventually succeeds in resurrecting Dracula. In order to stop him, Blade has to release a virus that will wipe out all vampires, but he has only one opportunity to do so.
